With its striking Art Deco design and richly detailed interiors, 60 Great Queen Street offers an extraordinary canvas for filmmakers. From sweeping marble corridors to panelled chambers, period-perfect lifts to original 1930s toilets, the building brings an authentic, timeless aesthetic to screen.
A range of distinct looks can be found within the space – from polished wood and gilded features to stone staircases, tiled walls and vast ceremonial halls. These layers of texture and history offer directors and location scouts visual depth and flexibility in one central London location.
There are multiple adjoining spaces allowing for cast and crew holding, costume, HMU and production offices.
Last year, 60 Great Queen Street also played host to some of the filming of Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The Vestibules acted as the backdrop for the headquarters for the film’s superhero group.
In 2005, 60 Great Queen Street made its Hollywood debut in ‘The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy'(2005). The film uses the Grand Temple as a spaceship and office for space pirate, Humma Kavula, and sees Martin Freeman’s character travel into space after aliens devastate the Earth. Although this venue can’t really take you into space, we can promise that this venue will impress you with the sheer scale and grandeur of its setting. See what your Christmas party could look like at the Grand Temple here.
In 2014, 60 Great Queen Street was paid a special visit by some of the most famous puppets in the world. That’s right – The Muppets visited the venue during filming for the 2014 film ‘The Muppets Most Wanted’, which saw the Vestibules transformed into an Art Gallery in Madrid.
In 2015, the filming of James Bond took place at 60 Great Queen Street, where it was used as the location of a government building, during a scene where Ralph Fiennes’ character misses an important meeting with the government. The building’s corridors can be seen to play a starring role here.
