Discover the inspiration and design details that brought our 60 Great Queen Street Unlocked showcase to life.
September 20th saw us unlock the unseen at 60 Great Queen Street, a showcase in partnership with some of our most valued suppliers, we created an evening to showcase the best of the venue. From a grand welcome to a drinks reception presented like a piece of art, immersive entertainment that uplifted the energy of the evening up until the very last cocktails were sipped. Guests were taken on a journey through the venue to reveal each space that presented an aesthetic true to the venue’s opulence and grandeur.
RELIVE THE EVENING OF ICONIC ELEGANCE IN OUR WRAP VIDEO…
Now the dust has settled, we’ve caught up with the teams behind some of our favourite elements of the – events from production, furniture hire, florals, catering and entertainment.

Catering from Moving Venue
For the dinner, the timing felt especially fitting as we had just welcomed the first day of autumn on 21st September, and we wanted the menu to capture the richness of the new season. We opened with smoked duck breast, sour cherry purée, baby figs, fennel jam, and chicory. This was followed by a delicate plate of halibut with ruby chard, clams, samphire, rosé beurre blanc, and dill oil.
As guests made their way into the Long Room for dessert, the space transformed. Inspired by the opulent textures and tones of burgundy, gold, and soft pink, we created a dessert station that was as much a visual experience. Seasonal favourites were reimagined, from Black Forest Eton Mess and cinnamon crème brûlée Bramley apple crumble tartlets and Salted caramel Baileys lollipops – comforting, nostalgic flavours fit for the occasion. – Paige Norman , Sales Director

Bringing the brief to life…
It was a pleasure collaborating with everyone involved in the 60 Great Queen Street Showcase. The venue’s stunning architecture set the tone — our goal was to highlight its historic charm while creating a lively, immersive experience for guests to enjoy.
With multiple spaces to transform, we took inspiration from the venue’s beautiful interiors, using rich velvet draping, warm amber lighting, and gold detailing throughout. A discreet sound system was seamlessly integrated across each area to support the incredible entertainment on the night.
We loved bringing this event to life alongside the brilliant venue team — and we can’t wait to create more unforgettable moments at this spectacular venue. – Aisha Francis, Senior Project Manager
Light and Sound…
Every event at 60 Great Queen Street is unique, and this showcase was all about bringing the building’s character to life through lighting and sound. We focused on enhancing each space, from the welcoming glow at the entrance to the atmospheric pin spotting and uplighting throughout. Site visits were key to understanding how the rooms could work best, especially with specific venue considerations like power access and layout changes.
Once the stage and floor plans were finalised, everything else fell into place — lighting, sound, and finishing touches that made the setup both seamless and striking. It’s always the small details, from cable management to colour choices, that make the production feel polished and effortless.” – Jeaffrey Rodrigues Senior Technical Project Manager

The Draping…
I designed the entrance drapes to create a sense of unveiling, a transition from the everyday into a vibrant and immersive atmosphere. The heavy velvet and rich folds were chosen to heighten anticipation, making the act of entering the dinner reception a sensory experience that reveals the evening’s energy and palette. – Adele, Production Designer

Florals from Mary Jane Vaughan
For the showcase we chose flowers with petals that had the texture of velvet, evocative of the heavy drapes and candlelit corners of an exclusive members club. We chose a decadent palette of colours such ochre, plum and ruby that would glow in the low golden light – and flowers with shapely, delicate stems that would look beautiful reflected in the mirrored tabletops including English cosmos, dahlias and shimmering stipa grass alongside ruffled roses and the first of the seasons chrysanthemums. It was extremely important to us that our designs were floral foam free – so all the arrangements you see here are supported with sustainable mechanics that can be used again. – Anna Donner, Senior Creative

The Long Room…
For the Unveiling of 60 Great Queen Street, our aim was to soften the bold, masculine architecture of the space by reinterpreting traditional design elements through more feminine forms and subtle tonal shades. The furniture selection for the Long Room reflects this balance, combining elegance with warmth to create an atmosphere that feels both sophisticated and inviting. We wanted to evoke a sense of comfort – a space where you could sink into a seat and lose track of time, chatting until the early hours of the morning.
Drawing inspiration from iconic venues like Ronnie Scotts, 1920s gentlemens clubs, and speakeasy bars, we introduced a playful, feminine twist to the design. The intention was to capture the sweet, indulgent spirit of the dessert bar, while echoing the sultry, smoky allure of the cocktail menu. The result is a space that invites relaxation and conversation, while still offering a sense of glamour and refinement.
The Vestibules…
The pieces selected for the dining area almost contradict this concept with opulent glamour. Smoked glass table-tops with golden finishes were chosen to bounce light and reflect the building’s ornate Art Deco ceiling – allowing guests to absorb and admire every architectural detail from their plate. The result is an optical feast, perfectly complementing the delightful flavours delivered by Moving Venue.
Entertainment from Elan
We felt that pairing the architectural style and history of 60 Great Queen Street with an incredible bespoke Jazz performance by Champagne Dream was the natural choice for the Vestibule entertainment. A particular highlight was the Cabaret dance performance, which paid homage to the building’s era while elevating the evening with a modern twist. It was truly a joy to work within the space, and it has certainly sparked many more ideas for future collaborations. – Fran Tidey, Elan Artists
